Jane Maxine Heaston Walker was born in Kansas City, Mo., on March 31, 1932, to Mildred Marie Brahs and Isaac Lorraine Heaston. After graduating from Cotter High School in Arkansas, Jane married Robert Earl McMillin and moved to Texas.

In the 1970s Jane married newspaper owner and publisher, Roger Walker. When he retired they moved to Tyler. At that time Jane earned her pilot's license, and she graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a degree in nursing. She was an accomplished nurse, known for her sincere desire to help those in need at the Andrews Center, where she was a psychiatric nurse for the past 10 years.

Intellectually curious, Jane read ferociously, traveled widely, especially where operas were performed, and consumed crossword puzzles. She also was passionate about physical activities: she played tennis, swam, sailed, walked, skied and flew airplanes.

Jane is survived by brothers, Robert Joseph Heaston of Naperville, Ill., James Edward Heaston of Farmington, N.M., William Irving Heaston of Little Rock, Ark., Charles Donald Heaston of Acworth, Ga., and John Buzz Heaston of Longview; sister, Jean Anne Andrews of Smyrna, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law, James Allan McMillin and Judy Lee Bryce McMillin of University Park; sons, Robert David McMillin of Baytown, and Ronald Wayne McMillin of San Marcos; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Lee Dickens and Alan Joseph Dickens of Durango, Colo.; stepdaughter, Jo Carol Hunnicutt and stepson-in-law Paul Randy Hunnicutt of Tyler; stepson, Roger Edward Walker Jr. and stepdaughter in-law Nancy Walker of Riverside, Calif.; stepdaughter, Pamela Margaret Walker of Dallas; stepson, Scott Hardeman Walker of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Holt, Joanie Michelle Cooley, Janie McMillin and Matthew McMillin; stepgrandchildren, Matthew Walker Barnet, Meredith Kelly Walker, Caroline Elizabeth Stenz, Nancy Suzanne Walker-Lucero, Maxwell Lincoln Walker-Lucero and Forrest Lee Walker; and great-grandchildren, William Solon Holt, James Allan McMillin, Homer Bryce Holt, Edwin Solon Holt, James Harrison Cooley and Charles Preston Cooley.
