Civil Rights Leader. A pharmacist by profession, Aaron Henry held various leadership positions in the NAACP, including being elected president of the Mississippi branch in 1959. He was one of the major organizers of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP), serving as one of its delegates in the attempt to unseat the regular Mississippi delegates at the 1964 Democratic National Convention, and was a leader in Freedom Summer, the voter-registration drive sponsored by the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO). Late in his career Henry served in the Mississippi legislature.
