Bessie Louise Barlow Sullivan passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the age of 71 years. Bessie was born in Seekonk, MA on February 25, 1937, to John Edward Barlow, Sr. and Georgie Elizabeth Ford and had resided in Texas City since 1942 formerly of East Providence, Rhode Island. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Texas City, Texas, she was a Directory Assistance Operator of Southwestern Bell Company for 37 years, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Santa Fe #5400, Communication Workers of America #6228 and Telephone Pioneers Brigands #51.
Survivors include 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Lynn Sullivan, Susan Elizabeth and Troy Phelps, Sarah Joan and John Bennett all of Texas City, Texas; sister, Joan Barlow Schalk of Texas City, Texas and brother, John Edward Barlow, Jr. of La Marque, Texas; family friend and co-worker Tanya Hart; three grandchildren, Shelbie Renee Arthur, Carin Louise Bennett, and John Loyde (J.L.) Bennett all of Texas City, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Loyde N. Sullivan. Visitation will be Friday, February 29, 2008, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque with the Rev. Raju Samuel officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East in Webster, Texas.
The family wishes to thank the staff members of Mainland Center Hospital Texas City, Texas. Thank you to all the attending doctors and nursing staff who took care of our mom throughout her stays at Clear Lake Cornerstone Hospital.
