Mr. Avery Dacus, a decendant of the Archibald Dacus (1769) line who is the brother to Nathaniel, years ago furnished me with the following family history:

That at the age of 83, Nathaniel Dacus appeared before a Magistrate in Greenville Dist. SC to make application for a pension based on his Revolutionary War Service. He stated that he, Nathaniel, was born near Williamsburg, Va. in 1749, later moving to Lunenburg Co. Va. He was a militiaman in 1779 under Capt. Edward Broadnax and marched to Williamsburg. Discharged, then drafted he served under Capt. Sivanus Cock in the brigade of Gen. Stephens. They joined Gen.
