A memorial service for Edith Strange, a retired music teacher and accompanist who died Sunday in a nursing home, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Adams Chapel at Riverview Cemetery. She was 88.

Born Aug. 19, 1889, in Ashland, Miss Strange had lived in Milwaukie since 1962.

She taught piano and organ at Western Washington State College, Bellingham, Wash., and was organist for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Bellingham for many years.

Miss Strange was a member of the Washington State Music Teachers Association, and had been accompanist for many visiting artists on their tours of the Northwest.

She is survived by two brothers, John, Brehham, Texas, and Robert F. Houston, Tex.

Private interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
