Mrs. Edith P. Archer Cox, 87, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 at NHC Healthcare Center of Johnson City.

A loving mother and homemaker, she was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was a very independent and spirited person and loved going to garage sales and flea markets. Over the years she collected Fenton Glassware and Thomas Kinkade, as well as many other items. She loved to work in her flower and vegetable gardens and as a sports fan, she was often found watching NASCAR, golf and football on the weekends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Nellie Archer, sister, Gladys Godwin, brothers, Ivan Archer, Leland Archer, daughter, Faye Archer and our father and her husband of 60 years, Vestal Cox.

She is survived by daughters, Dorothy Cox, Lisa Cox, Rose Cates (Wayne), all of Jonesborough and Carolyn Cooper (Ralph) Johnson City; sons, Darrell Cox (Donna), and Ron Cox, all of Jonesborough; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. David Moulton, Dr. Collier Jordan, Stacy with Caris Hospice and the staff of NHC Healthcare of Johnson City for their wonderful care.

Per her wishes, there will be no funeral services and she will be laid to rest in a graveside service, 12, noon, Friday, December 28, 2012 at Sulpur Springs Cemetery with Rev. Scott Marshall officiating. Music will be provided by Dennis Garber.
