Albert C. Adams was born to Thomas Fisher Adams (1771-1827) and Elizabeth Dolloff (1785-1865) in Maine. He was the older brother of Thomas Frederick Adams. Both brothers moved to Switzerland County, Indiana, to farm after early careers as sailors. Albert married Rebecca J. Tibbits in Maine in 1837. They had fifteen children, the youngest being born in about 1865.
