Kathy was the daughter of Cletus O'Dell Gaines and Hazel Blair. She married George Edwin "Tuffy" Welch when she was just 16 years old in 1965 and they had 5 children: David, Ronald, James, Jerry, Christal Dawn Welch, and 6 grandchildren. Kathy lost her battle with cancer and she was cremated and deeply missed. Her cremations are buried next to her husband. Kathy is with her husband whom she loved dearly at Hickoy Grove Cemetery and shares the same headstone.
