Mihoko Urai Quirin, age 59, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 5, 1993 after a courageous fight with cancer.

She was born May 22, 1934 in Nishikomi, Sedouchi, Amami Oshima, Japan to Uma and Seijo Masatsune Urai, who preceded her in death.

Married Mervin Dale Quirin on June 16, 1959 at the U.S. Consulate in Naha, Okinawa.

She traveled extensively the next fifteen years, making many friends throughout the Far East and the United States, settling in Salt Lake City some twenty years ago.

She enjoyed her garden and her pets. In failing health for years, she loved life with a gusto and zest, and lived it to its fullest.

She touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with, recalling to her last day on earth especially the many small children of all ages that she had loved and known over the years.

She was a mother, a wife, a partner, a sweetheart, and a noble lady who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband and son, Frank, Salt Lake City; two brothers, Kaneo and Etsuo Urai; and four sisters, Yotsue, Ikeshima, Ukami Hikita, Kimiko Miyahara, and Teruyo Urai, all of Japan.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 9, 1993 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East). Friends may call prior to the services from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary.
