FUNERAL RITES HELD HERE FOR T. C. CANDLAND


Funeral Service for Theodore Clement (Tobe) CANDLAND, 83, were held Wednesday afternoon in Mount Pleasant First-Fourth Ward Chapel with Bishop Rex Hafen in charge. Mr. CANDLAND died Friday night in the Veterans Hospital after a long illness.


He was born June 26, 1877 in Chester, a son of David and Annie Woodhouse CANDLAND, early pioneers of this area. He married Ella TUFT, December 10, 1902 in Manti. The marriage was later solemnized in Manti L.D.S. Temple. Mrs. CANDLAND died in 1957.


Mr. CANDLAND was a prominent wool buyer and stockman. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War and a member of the L.D.S. Church.


Surviving are two sons and a daughter, Dwight CANDLAND, Pocatello, Idaho; Rex CANDLAND, Napa, California; Mrs. Clarence (Beth) MICHEL, Los Angeles, California; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


Military rites were accorded by the H. M. Zabriskie Post No. 4, American Legion. Burial was in Mount Pleasant City Cemetery directed by Jacobs Mortuary.
