Allen A. Van Horn, Carrolwood, was born on June 27, 1933 to the late Louis and Mata (Schrader) Van Horn in Mason City, Iowa. He died on February 18, 2015 at Tampa General Hospital from complications following surgery.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota in civil engineering, Allen worked on major transportation projects throughout the country. He and his late wife Grace moved to Florida in 1983, and to the Tampa area in 1992. He was very involved in various church activities as well as numerous community organizations.

He is survived by wife Julia, Carrolwood; sister Mary Lou Rogers (Jim), Garner, Ia.; daughter Sharon Ward (Bryan), Orlando; grandchildren Marshall Ward and Connor Ward, both of Orlando. He was preceded in death by his son Peter Van Horn.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Northdale Lutheran Church in Carrolwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northdale Lutheran Church and School.
