VIRGIL FREDERICK "FRED" MORRIS, 79, of Springfield, passed away in his home Thursday evening, March 5, 2015. He was born in Springfield on August 4, 1935, the son of the late Richard and Christine (Lieb) Morris.

Fred graduated from Springfield High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957. Upon his return from military service, he began his college studies at Wittenberg University, graduating in 1960. He retired as an accountant and small business owner.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie (Carroll) Morris, whom he married on December 27, 1958; their children, Karen (Louis E. Jr.) Riley, Carla Riley, and Stuart (Jeanette) Morris; a sister, Dolores Joann "Dolly" (Douglas) Miranda; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Fifth Lutheran Church with Pastor Carol Gesalman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

A private burial service will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fifth Lutheran Church, 1331 E. High St., Springfield, OH 45505.
