He was born June 17, 1949 in Pine Bluff, son of Homer Coffey and Mildred Leona Doss Couch.
Mr. Couch was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1968. After attending the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Michael earned his degree in criminal justice from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam.
Mr. Couch served the community with the Pine Bluff Police Department, Juvenille Court System, and then with the Jefferson County Sheriffs' Dive Rescue Team. He was a PADI Certified Dive Instructor and owner of Mike's Scuba Shop, and certified many Arkansans to dive.
He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff. After moving to Hot Springs in 2012, Mr. Couch became a member of Oaklawn United Methodist Church.
Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and anything outdoors. He spent countless nights with his family camping under the stars from the Buffalo River to Lake Quachita.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Mark Couch.
