PARKER BABY PASSES AWAY

Two-day-old Sherri Lynn Parker passed away at 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 1961. She was buried in Charleston, Utah, on Saturday, August 19th, the Alpine Mortuary of that city having charge of interment. The Flagstaff Mortuary had charge of local arrangements.

The baby was the daughter of Fred and Gayle Parker, who said that they wish to thank Dr. Ivan W. Kazan, the staff of Page Hospital, and the townspeople of Page for their services and well-wishes, plus Mrs. Ruth Parker, the nurse who stayed with the baby for 16 hours, and Bonnie, who stayed with her for eight hours.

The premature baby girl was born early Monday morning, August 14 (about 6 a.m.) An isolette was rushed up from Flagstaff Hospital, in an attempt to save her life, but did not prove quite sufficient help, although the infant held her own for a time.

Following upon this event and another premature birth the same week, a campaign has been proposed to Page Lion's and Homemaker's Clubs to obtain a permanent isolette for Page Hospital. To be successful, such a campaign will require the participation and support of the entire community.

The baby's father, Uncle Richard B. "Rick" Parker '62, Aunt Carrie L. Barna Parker '63 and Parker grandparents, Melvin Bagley Parker #191448283 & Ruth Clawson Parker #191448268, were "Page Pioneers" helping to birth "America's Last Frontier" -- Page, Arizona.
