Mrs. Amelia Smith, 69, a Glen Carbon resident 68 years, died Friday at 5:25 p.m. apparently of a heart attack at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Granite City, where she had been a patient the past five days.
Born Oct. 10, 1890 in Mt. Olive she was the daughter of the late Peter and Louise Kremeyer Hennings. She was married Sept. 25, 1912 in Glen Carbon to Fred Smith who preceded her in death Nov. 13, 1950.
Surviving are a son, Lloyd of Glen Carbon; a daughter, Mrs. Irma Goldsmith of St. Louis, and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Hausen, Glen Carbon, and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Methodist church.
The body may be viewed at the Straube funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Monday when it will be taken to the Glen Carbon Methodist church to lie in state until the services at 2 p.m. The Rev. Tom Arras will officiate.
Interment will be in the Glen Carbon cemetery.
