Sylvia Inez Brooks Martin Huffine, 96, of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 5, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Hunter and Mary Elizabeth Nalley Brooks. Mrs. Huffine was employed at Laurens Hosiery Mill for 25 years and was also owner and operator of Martin’s Shoe Store in Laurens. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church, the S.C. F.C.L. Extension Homemaker Club, Woodmen of the World, and the Ann Pamela Cunningham Garden Club.

She is survived by her loving sister, Iva Brooks Holliday of Laurens; special sisters-in-law, Doris O’Dell Brooks and Clara Blackwell Brooks both of Laurens; ten nieces and nephews whom she loved as her children; and great nieces and nephews whom she loved as her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Alpha Martin and Hobert C. Huffine and two brothers, Frank and Harvey Brooks.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Martha Franks Rasor Chapel conducted by Rev. Michael Beeks and Dr. Russell Dean with burial in Laurens City Cemetery.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at Martha Franks Rasor Chapel one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605, or to a charity of one’s choice.
