Dr. Gary N. Harrison, age 68, died on Friday March 6, 2015 at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.

The Savannah native was a 1965 graduate of Jenkins High School. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology graduating in 1969 with a degree in Chemistry. While at Georgia Tech he was a member of the NCAA National Championship Bowling Team. He was also a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia with an Internal Medicine degree. He was an assistant professor with MCG in the Pulmonary Section. In 1980 he moved to Statesboro and founded the Statesboro Medical Specialist Practice, he then began working as a Hospitalist at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. In 2008 he moved to Boone NC and was a Hospitalist with Watauga Medical Center. Dr. Harrison then began working with the Habersham County Medical Center. In 2012 after retirement he moved back to Bulloch County. He was a member of the Baldwin First Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and was a member of the HOG (Harley Owners Group) and the Christian Motorcyclist Association.

He was preceded in death by his son Michael Harrison and his parents Noel and Patricia Harrison.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years Emily Cooper Harrison of Statesboro; his children Robin (Josh) Axelberd of Suwannee, GA, David (Meghan) Harrison of Dunwoody, GA, Stephen Harrison and his fiancé Cecilie Fowler of Brooklet, GA, Rebecca (Michael) Forest of Lawrenceville, GA and Kathryn Harrison and her fiancé Brent Butler of Statesboro; a sister Sherry McFarland (Tom) of Appling, GA; eight grandchildren also survive.

The visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Eason officiating.

Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

The pallbearers will be Stephen Harrison, David Harrison, Mike Forest, Scott Cooper, Brett Butler, Josh Axelberd, Cooper Harrison and Harrison Durland.
