"A History of the Toland Family, 1902": Andrew was killed by an assassin returning from Columbus, Miss., to his home at night a distance of 12 miles. He was suppose to have gotten money for cotton from Mobile, Alabama. One James McCann was arrested for the offense after passing through several terms of court. Tried. Was found guilty. Sentenced and hung in Columbus, Mississippi.
His son John F Toland was acquitted and went to Texas.
