Kay Lorraine (Kitty)Gibbs was born on January 7, 1948 to the union of Mrs. Estelle Davis Gibbs and the late Arthur Gibbs, Sr. in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the second oldest of six children. Kay completed her education studies at George Washington Carver High School. She pursued a major in Home Economics at Delgado Community College. Kay retired from the Orleans Parish School Board where she touched the lives of many children during her tenure. She loved to cook and eat gourmet foods. Her hobbies consisted of sewing, gardening, scrapbooking unique recipes and a variety of arts and crafts. Kay was baptized at an early age and was a member of the Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. She continued to read and study the bible diligently. Over the years, she had began to study the bible with Jehovah's Witness and put faith in the teachings that she learned through the bible. After completing her teaching and lessons, she decided to become a Jehovah's Witness. In the late 1960's Kay was joined in matrimony to Calvin Shepherd. To that union, they were blessed with tow children, daughter, Carolice Shepherd, and a son, Calvin Shepherd Jr. After living with an illness for many years, she was called from this life on August 15, 2011.
