Stella Reece Lawrence, age 101, of 148 Buck Lawrence Road, Zionville, died March 5, 2015, at home. She was born June 28, 1913 in Watauga County. She was a retired employee of Appalachian State University and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth "Buck" Lawrence and wife Dora Deane of Zionville; one granddaughter, Lisa Colvard and husband Phillip of Zionville; one great-grandson, Marc Colvard and fiancée Jalyn of Lenoir; one sister-in-law, Ruth Lawrence Isaacs of Lenoir; special friends, Jessica Miller, Rena Davis, Martha Miller, Helen Hicks, and Wanda Winebarger, and special caregiver, Julie Wright. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Will Lawrence, and one brother, Gene Reece.
Funeral services were held at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Herbert McCoy and Reverend Allan Perry. Burial in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Note: Stella’s husband is buried in the Smith Cemetery with a double headstone that includes her name but her plot there is empty since she was buried in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
