On March 5, 2015, Nina Beth Nivens Thompson of Blevins, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruff and Lillie Belle Nivens, brothers Lyle, Carroll, Wayne, Keith, James and John Nivens, and a sister, Linda Ann Hill.

Nina worked for over 30 years as a nurse all over Hempstead and Nevada Counties, served as a nursing instructor for UAMS at UACCH, and most recently served as a school nurse at Blevins Schools. She was the epitomy of strength and grace even during her battle with cancer. She leaves behind her husband of 25 years, David Thompson, and her children, Jennifer Myrick of Blevins, Jerry Myrick and wife, Brandi of McCaskill, Nancy Myrick of Blevins, Carrie Myrick Hirmer and husband, Mark of Texarkana, Wesley Thompson and wife, Kristin, of Arizona and Amy Myrick Collins of California. Her greatest joy was spending time with her nine grandchildren, Britney, Jordan, Justin, Markie, Bethany, Emma, Nora, Madison and Cali. She also leaves behind her siblings, Nita Salisbury, Nellie Gibson and husband, Marlin, Kenneth Nivens and wife, Sandra, Harold Nivens, Leon Nivens and wife, Nelda, and Alta Sams and husband, Carl, and sisters-in-law, Peggy Nivens and Linda Ruth Nivens, along with a host of nieces, nepheWs and friends.

In lieu of flowers and to continue Nina's legacy of nursing, the family asks that donations be made in her honor tO the Nina Nivens Thompson Memorial Scholarship at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home.
