He was born in Coral Gables, FL to the late Everette Lewis Abernathy and Catherine Ellis Abernathy. He served in the United States Army from 1969 until 1980 as a Staff Sergeant and Air Traffic Controller where he received a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal & Army Commendation Medal. He worked for 28 years for Bellsouth and AT&T as a Facility Technician. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at McKoon Funeral Home. The funeral service is Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, Rev. Gary Cunningham and Warren Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Wayne Abernathy and his wife Evelyn; sister, Nancy Twitty and her husband Vernie; grandchildren, John, Serenity, Caylie; and many nieces & nephews.
