Roger Terrel Paul, 70, of Darrouzett died Thursday, March 5, 2015. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Darrouzett Cemetery. Good Samaritan Funeral Service, Booker.

November 9, 1944 - March 5, 2015

Roger Terrel Paul was born on November 9, 1944, to Wallie Thomas and Leta Lee (Morley) Paul in Slaton, Texas; Roger was the youngest of five children.

On September 7, 1967 Roger entered the United States Army , he attended basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana; then was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia for Advanced Instructional Training as a field radio mechanic.

In March of 1968 Roger was sent to Vietnam; he was "boots on the ground" for thirteen months at the fire bases near Pleiku and Dak with the First Battalion, 8th Infantry, and 4th Infantry Division. Roger's job was radio maintenance in the field; he was honorably discharged from the Army in 1969. Roger returned to Darrouzett from Vietnam and was very active in the American Legion Kiowa Post #635; he served as Post Commander from 1983 - 1987.

One Roger's greatest joy was flying his Ultra light Plane; he was a charter member of the Tri-State EAA Chapter #1115, he spent many hours at the Gage Airport flying and working on his plane. When his health began to decline he had to part with his beloved plane.

Roger passed away on March 5, 2015 in Perryton; his parents and two sisters Jackie Stevens and Jaunita Stockton precede him in death.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday March 7 at 2:00 pm in the Darrouzett Cemetery with Pastor Stephen Ammons officiating. Services are under the direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Service Booker, Texas.

Survivors include: two brothers Wayne Paul and wife Kathryn of Lipscomb, and Charles Ray Paul and wife Rosemary of Iowa City, Iowa ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin on Friday March 6 from 1 pm - 8 pm and Saturday March 7 from 9 am - 12:30 pm.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at the funeral home Friday March 6 from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donation be made to the Darrouzett American Legion Kiowa Post #635 at PO box 52 Darrouzett, TX 79024
