In our lives we are touched by so many wonderful people; Jennifer Elizabeth Barker was one of those people. Her flame burned bright but was extinguished too soon. She lost her battle with cancer on March 3, 2015.

Memorial services will be at 2 pm, Saturday, March 7, 2015, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Jennifer was born June 22, 1975, in Amarillo, Texas. She grew up in Pampa, Texas, where she graduated from Pampa High School in 1993. As a young girl, she took ballet, which gave her a lifelong love for theatre.

She chased knowledge with a passion. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in theatre, Bachelor of Science in biology, Master of Fine Arts in stage management, and most recently, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014.

She loved theatre, music, reading, and her cats.

She worked at Barnes and Nobles as manager of the children’s department. While in Las Vegas, she worked on many show productions in stage management, most notably Le Reve, Celine Dion, and Mamma Mia! She had started her nursing career at Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital, and was waiting to take her State Board Examination.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lloydeane Barker.

She is survived by her father, Daniel R. Barker and his wife, Vicky, of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers of Austin, Texas, James and Joel Barker; and, her grandmother, Bobbie Melton of Jasper, Alabama.

The family would like to extend an appreciation to the following healthcare facilities: Harrington Cancer Center, Northwest Texas Hospital ER, ICU and Hospice Care of the Southwest.

The family suggests memorials be made to West Texas A&M University School of Nursing; or to Hospice Care of the Southwest.
