He was born on Saturday, 22 August 1931 in Oakdale, CA., and was the son of William Martin Cashman and Beatrice Esting (Alexander) Cashman.
William served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War.
He was the Strawberry Fire Chief for 20 years and spent his career as a Hydropower Technician for the Tri-Dam Project and was a member of the Columbia Union School District Board of Trustees for 12 years.
Mr. Cashman was survived by his wife of 60 years, Valera Cashman; his children, Laurie Cashman, Peggy (Cashman) Herndon, Kelly (Cashman) Miller, John Cashman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Martin Cashman and Beatrice Esting (Alexander) Cashman; his sisters, Maryellen Margaret (Cashman) Tally and Luann Kay (Cashman) Blattler; his daughter, Jamie (Cashman) Neathery; sons in-law, Brad Schneider, Torey Herndon and Bob Sales.
