Henry F. Jitter Albers, Jr., age 88 of Damiansville, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Albers was born May 20, 1926 in Bartelso, a son of Cecilia (Usselmann) and Henry F. Albers, Sr.; they preceded him in death.

He married Lucille Lu Toennies on May 10, 1950 at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville; she preceded him in death on May 23, 1989.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his sons, Allen and Glennon Albers; sisters, Leona Voss and Viola Korte; brothers Norbert Albers and Gene Albers; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Al Voss, Ed Korte, Marie Albers, Margie Albers, Robert Von Bokel, Emma Toennies, Walter Toennies, Cletus Toennies, Joe Toennies, and Norm Toennies.

Surviving are his children, Marvin Albers of Albers, Yvonne (Melvin) Heimann of Breese, Dave (Shirley) Albers of Damiansville, Sue (Jim) Frick of Nashville, Mary (Wayne) Berry of Hoffman, Ann (Mick) Bowen of Damiansville, Gary (Lisa) Albers of Damiansville, and Tim (Lisa) Albers of Breese; 27 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores Von Bokel of Aviston; a brother, Rich Albers of Bartelso; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin (Rita) Toennies of Damiansville, Marie (Greg) Niemeyer of Breese, Julie Toennies of New Baden, Bernadette Toennies of Germantown, Bernice "Bim" (Frank) Fuehne of Damiansville, Jerry (Sharon) Toennies of Waterloo, Jane Toennies of Breese, Germaine (Herb) Schulte of Trenton, and Jan (Tom) Eversgerd of Germantown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jitter retired from Ford Motor Company and enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening, bowling and traveling.

He was a member of St. Damian Catholic Church and former officer of the Holy Name in Damiansville, United Auto Workers Local 136, former officer of the Damiansville Chamber of Commerce, and a life member of the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Fr. Jack Joyce and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Damian Cemetery, Damiansville.

Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 8:00-9:15 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

Memorials can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.

Breese Knights of Columbus members will hold services Friday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
