Ruben was the son of Joel and Lucy (Haywood) Goad. He married. Mary Louise HARRIS in Maury County, Tennessee, on September 1, 1889. They soon moved to Yell County Arkansas and had their first child there, Leota Frances in 1890 at Magazine, Arkansas. Three of their sons were born in Yell County Arkansa also, Herbert Brown in 1892, Joseph Hazel in 1897,and Willie Aubrey in 1900. They moved to Oklahoma and had Opal Lucille in 1904 and one child that died at birth. Reuben was a farmer and lived in Hughes County in the Witty district until his death in 1929
