RE: A. L. Bingaman (d. 1876)

Adam served in the Civil War as a private in Adams Troop, Co. A, Jeff Davis Legion, Mississippi Cavalry (CSA).

A record of his Civil War service states the following: “Discharged on account of breaking leg on way to [location difficult to read]. He organized Bingaman Rangers (1862) and paid for and equipped the company, although a private in Adams Troop. He died in New Orleans in about 1876.”

Adam was originally recorded as having been interred at the Bingaman Family cemetery on the Fatherland Plantation in Natchez, MS. His record was later amended to indicate that he was buried in the Military Block of Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans, LA (Record Book 4-9, p. 277).
