Kenneth Bryant Helms Sr., 81, of Arkadelphia, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, in Little Rock. He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Arkadelphia, the son of Edgar and Clara Francis Helms. He received his masters degree from Oklahoma State University and taught at Lakeside High School in Hot Springs for over 30 years. His passion was agriculture and woodworking. He was a strong Christian family man and caregiver who loved gospel music. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Harry Helms. Kenneth was a member of Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Kathleen Cunningham Helms; one son Kenneth Helms Jr. and his wife Angela of Arkadelphia; two daughters, Kayleen Ferguson and her husband Larry of Hot Springs and Kendra Franks and her husband Neil of Branson, Missouri; 7 grandsons; one granddaughter; four great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Jeanna Helms of New Jersey.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Hardin and Dr. Neil Franks officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be Bryant, Kyle and Stephen Ferguson, Alec and Austin Helms and Nathan and Travis Franks.
