Jamie Louise Kennedy, a 106-year-old Sparta native, died Sunday.
She was an educator and music teacher for over 70 years. Her life was honored in 2012 when the city of Sparta renamed Dixie Street to Jamie Louise Kennedy Boulevard in her honor.
Her wake is Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Warren Bros. Mortuary located at 291 Spring St. in Sparta. It is open to the public.
The funeral is Saturday at noon at St. Mark A.M.E. Church, located at 124 St. Mark Church Rd., in Sparta.
