Daughter of Swiss parents John and Barbara (Schmidt) Amman, Sister Mary Faber Amman, O.S.F., was for over 30 years a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia at Aston, Pennsylvania. She came to America in 1885, and worked in the garden at the Convent of Our Lady of Angels at Aston where she died in 1923, age 60.
