Mary L. White, 83, Canning Factory Road, a retired teacher, died Tuesday at Harr-Wood Nursing Home, Oswego.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Halfshire Historical Society of Richland or to the Northern Oswego County Ambulance fund.
Surviving are a brother, Jesse E. White, Pulaski; a niece, Jean Rautio, Liverpool; a nephew, Donald J. White, Halifax, Pa., and several grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins.
Born Oct. 16, 1908, daughter of George and Elizabeth Shafty White, she was a 1925 graduate of Pulaski Academy, a 1926 graduate of the Pulaski Training Class and a 1934 graduate of Oswego Normal School.
She was a 1945 cum laude graduate of Syracuse University and received a master's degree in 1947 from SU. Miss White also received a General Electric fellowship in 1958 to attend a summer session at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and she took post-graduate classes at Hamilton College, Clinton, and Oswego State Teachers College
Miss White was a life resident of Pulaski. She retired in June 1972 after 27 years as a high school mathematics teacher at Camden Central School. She previously taught in rural schools in the Pulaski area and at Sandy Creek Central School.
Miss White was a member of the Park United Methodist Church, Pi Lambda Theta national honor society, the Ontario Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Halfshire Historical Society of Richland and the Mayflower Society of Connecticut.
She was a past master of Pulaski Grange 730 and a 50-year member of the National Grange.
