Goldsboro - Shannon Michelle Horton, 17, died Saturday. The daughter of Richard "Rich" and "Jeannie" Clark Horton of Goldsboro, she was a rising senior at Charles B. Aycock High School, where she was active in the show choir and other student activities. Shannon has also participated in the Center Stage Theatre and was an active leader in the St. Mary Total Youth Ministry program.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. William Ruhl O.F.S.F. will preside. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sisters, Stephanie Horton of South Bend, Indiana and Leigh Ann Howell of Goldsboro; brothers, Jonathan Horton of Goldsboro and Jeffrey Horton of Wilmington; and paternal grandparents, Orville Horton, Jr. and Maria Horton of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Treva Horton of Irvine, CA.

A Wake Service will be held Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Norris O.F.S.F. presiding. The family will receive friends following the service.

The family request memorials be made to the St. Mary School General Scholarship Fund, 1000 N. Jefferson Ave., Goldsboro, NC 27530 or the Choral Department at Charles B. Aycock High School, PO Box 159, Pikeville, NC 27863.
