ABBOTT, Nancy L. Age 77 of Kettering passed away Sunday March 1, 2015.

She was born on April 13, 1937 in Dayton to the late Marjorie and Clyde Durst.

Nancy graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955 and went on to Miami Valley School of Nursing where she graduated in 1958. She was a life long member of St. John's United Church of Christ where she served in many capacities, including treasurer for the Women of St. John's.

She was an active member of the Dayton Philharmonic Women's Association, serving in countless roles as well as contributing to the publication of the 'Mud Pies & Silver Spoons' cookbook. She enjoyed being surrounded by the positive loving women of the Dayton chapter of Beta Sigma Phi; she served several years in various officer positions.

She loved playing bridge and was an avid tennis player at the Kettering Tennis Center. Nancy's pure joy was walking on the beach and collecting sea shells.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years, David; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy (Sean) Strady of FL, Sandy (John) Kotch of CA; a sister and brother-in-law, Dottie (Tom) Norton of Kettering; five grandchildren, Lauren, Monica, Connor, Julia and Deanna.

The interment will be held 11:00 AM Saturday March 7 at the Whispering Pines Chapel at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave.

To honor Nancy's spirit a memorial service will be held on March 15th at 12:30 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 515 E. Third St.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
