"Babe" Honora Frances (Johnston) Bartlett was born to Duncan and Honora Agnes (Murphy) Johnston in Vancouver, B.C., June 4, 1922, on her parent’s 12th anniversary.
She spent many happy years on the family farm at Harmsworth Station near Langley, B.C. Babe was a nurse, teacher, poet who self-published several books. She was a dreamer and did everything she could to make her dreams come true. Babe had many business ventures over the years including her own embroidery and heat press shop.
She was set up for a date with her soon-to-be husband, Edward Norman Bartlett, by her sister Johnnee and brother-in-law Stanley Bartlett, Ed's brother.
They were married Sept. 27, 1947 and enjoyed 52 years of marriage. After many years of being childless God answered their prayers. They soon had four sons in quick secession, Edward, Ken, Joseph and Robert. Ed and Babe traveled in their little Winnie from 1982 to 1989. In 1989 they moved to Desert Hot Springs, Calif., to enjoy the warm climate. Every summer they would travel back north to see their families making sure to stay at each household. Many enjoyable camping trips, rain or shine, were taken with Grandma and Grandpa. Sometimes the Winnie was full of wet clothes with the heater at full blast.
Babe allowed the value of story, love and humor made known to the world through her actions, pluck and dedication to family and loved ones. Never prone to judgment, she loved and accepted everyone she met, giving the gift of love and light freely. Her essence is carried on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all who has joined the family for holidays and camping trips.
She was preceded in death by her mother Honora Agnes Johnston, father Duncan Johnston, sisters Kathleen Hamilton, Johnnee Bartlett and nephew Stan Bartlett.
Babe is survived by her sons Ed (Sharon), Ken, Joe and Bob (Marguerite); grandchildren Heidi Bryan, Eddie and Amanda Bartlett; Jennifer, Kelse and Robert Bartlett; Trisha Bohling, Lora and Veronica Bartlett; plus many great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2015, 5 p.m. at New Life Christian Fellowship, 17110 140th Ave NE, Woodinville, WA 98072.
The family will have a private graveside service at Floral Hills Cemetery, 409 Filbert Rd., Lynnwood, WA 98036.
