Nella Cavanah Powell, 80 of Paducah, KY passed away at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Lourdes Hospital. Nella was a native of Henderson, KY and grew up in Providence, KY where she graduated from Providence High School and was homecoming queen and cheerleader. She worked for Weille’s, Dotson Door Gifts and USEC after moving to Paducah. Nella attended Lone Oak First Baptist Church. Nella loved to cook for family gatherings. She loved to travel and to shop, especially with Kady. She was the best mother two sons could ever have.
She is survived by two sons, David Cavanah and wife Nancy Jo and Chuck Cavanah and wife Sue all of Paducah, KY; one sister, Frances Holley and husband Ronnie of Lexington, KY; one granddaughter, Kady Cavanah and one step-grandaughter, Tammy Harmon both of Paducah, KY; two sisters-in-law, June Newcomb of Providence, KY and Helen Woodson of Memphis, TN, several nieces and nephews and four step great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her first husband, W. J.” Winkie” Cavanah and second husband, Donald G. Powell; parents, John Gordon Woodson & Evelyn Davis Woodson; one brother, John T. “Sonny” Woodson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until service time of 1:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
