God called Wilma L. Graves home on November 10, 2014. After 90 years on this earth, our Lord and Savior needed her loving heart and wonderful smile in heaven.
Wilma was born on January 4, 1924 in Nelson County, Kentucky to Herschel and Catherine Elizabeth Terrell. She married Harry S. Graves on February 14, 1941.
Wilma, formally of Orleans, moved to Ben Wheeler, Texas in 2003 to live with her daughter Catherine. After Catherine passed away from a long battle with cancer, Wilma stayed in Ben Wheeler surrounded by grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren who loved her deeply.
Wilma also took on many adventures in her later years. She went on a cruise where she danced with the ship captain, made a seven state car trip to check out where the great Kentucky whiskeys were made, traveled to the Grand Canyon and gambled her way up and down the Las Vegas Strip.
In January of 2014, Wilma was surprised with a 90th birthday party attended by many from Orleans and all the family and friends she had made in Texas.
There will never be any one person who was loved as much as Wilma. Her passing leaves so many with such sadness, but as was her wish, we will not lose ourselves in sorrow. We will all treasure the many memories and know that heaven will be a better place once God welcomes her home.
She is survived by her children, Pam (Larry) Shaw, Denton, TX, Gary (Chere) Graves, Orleans, and Sidney (Vicki) Graves, of Sterling Heights, MI., Two brothers; Espy (Mary) Terrell, Paoli, Gene Terrell, Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Bessie Evans, Orleans, and Lillian Brooks of Lake Charles, La.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her children; Catherine Dillard, Beverly Stout, Monica Bennett, Michael Graves; one granddaughter, Stephanie Graves, and four brothers, Ralph, Ray, Roy and Paul.
The funeral will be Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home in Orleans with the Reverend Michael Williams officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Orleans.
