Dwain Arthur Barnard, 88, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro, Texas.

Dwain was born February 20, 1922 in Mertens, the son of John Thomas and Florence Christine Brewer Barnard. He graduated from Delia High School in Limestone County, where he played basketball. Dwain worked on the farm with his father. After graduating from high school Dwain entered the Army. After returning from the war, he married Neta Bell McCraw in Milford and lived on a farm near Merterns. He also farmed in Pairie Hill. After leaving the farm life, they moved to Hillsboro where he worked for TP&L for several years. In the early sixties, he went to work for Certain Teed Corporation, where he was employed for 21 years. Dwain was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Rangers and the Cowboys. He was a charter member of Church on the Hill in Hillsboro.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Lloyd Barnard; sister Martha Killough.

Survivors include his wife, Neta Barnard; daughter, Louise Dodd; son,David Barnard and wife, Pam; brother, Boyd Barnard and wife Nina; five grandchildren, Grady McClung and wife, Rachel, Tom McClung and wife, Carrie, Michelle Harris and husband Daniel, Meredith Drewett and husband, Roy, and Megan Louis and husband Walt; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services to be conducted on March 19, 2010 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Home. Burial to be at Hillcrest Garden of Memories, Hill County.
