Janet C. Davis, 88, of Peckville, died Saturday at Community Medical Center. Her husband, Stewart T. Davis, died August 4. Born in Peckville, daughter of the late Harvey and Hazel Carvolth Brong, she was a member of the former Peckville Baptist Church and a graduate of Blakely High School and Lackawanna Business College. Before retirement, she worked as a secretary for USF&G Insurance Company in Scranton, Curtis Company in Scranton and VanWert Stoker in Peckville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law, who loved spending time with her family. She devoted her entire life to her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Surviving are a daughter, Eileen Egroff, Scranton; a son, Thomas Davis and wife, Linda, Peckville; two grandsons, Jason Egroff, Scranton; and Brent Davis and wife, Stephanie, Greensboro, North Carolina; and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Donovan, and a son-in-law, William Egroff. The funeral will be Wednesday at noon in the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, Peckville, with services by the Rev. Sharon Dietz, pastor, Peckville United Methodist Church. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
