Wilma L. Yates, 105, of Spencer, formerly of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Owen Valley Health Campus. She was born October 9, 1909 in Lebanon to Chester and Mable (Van Nuys) Ranney. She was a farm wife and worked for Hooks in Lebanon until she was 74 years of age. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon, Home Ec Club in Lebanon, and enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and collie puppies.
Wilma is survived by her two sons, John Yates (Jane) of Poland and Rick Yates of Thorntown; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George F. Yates; her siblings, Mildred Ranny, Mable Redden, Ralph Ranney and James Ranney; and a grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home. Rev. Terri Thorn will officiate. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
