Her parents married about 1864 in Indiana. The family first moved to Paris, TX, then came to the Doaksville area (Fort Towson) area about 1885 after Dr. Tucker heard that the Choctaw Council was looking for white doctors. He interviewed with the council and they accepted him. He practiced for nine years before losing a patient (except for those with gunshots or knife wounds).
