Major League Baseball Player. For eight seasons (1989 to 1994), he played at the first baseman and second baseman positions with the New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles. Born Jefferson Alan McKnight, the son of former Major League player Jim McKnight, Jeff played collegiate baseball at the University of Arkansas, prior to being during the second round of the 1983 Amateur Draft. He marked his Major League debut with the Mets on June 6, 1989 and played in six games that year. In 1993, he produced a career-high 42 hits in 105 games-played. He died following a lengthy battle with leukemia.
