SSgt Melissa Becerra Scott, age 27, was called home to be with our Father in heaven on March 4, 2014 after a long battle with Small Cell Cancer. Melissa was born on December 27, 1986 to Maria Irene Cardiel, in San Antonio, TX.
She graduated from Southwest High School. After high school she joined the United States Air Force where she became a 3DO71/Knowledge Operator, working for Air Force Special Operations Command. Melissa received an Associate's Degree from the Community College of the Air Force in 2014. Melissa married MSgt Jovan B. Scott on May 11, 2013 in Navarre, FL. they combined their family and were raising their 5 children. Melissa enjoyed spending time with her family pursuing a healthy active lifestyle.
Melissa was preceded in death by her Maternal Grandmother Cecilia Hernandez de Becerra.
Melissa is survived by her husband MSgt Jovan B. Scott, her son Landon K. Becerra, her daughter Kendra J. Becerra; her step children Jovan B. Scott Jr, Christian Scott, and Natalia Scott. Melissa is also survived by her mother Maria Irene Cardiel of San Antonio, her brother Greg Cardiel (Rosalinda Ramos)of San Antonio, her sister Adriana McPherson (Melvin McPherson)of Melbourne, FL, her sister Diana Cardiel (Kim Flores) and her niece and nephews Christian Cardiel, Jayden McPherson and Naomi McPherson as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
A Burial with full Military Honors will follow at San Fernando Cemetery III, San Antonio, TX.
