Father: Vernon W. Price
Mother: Relva Ritchie
Spouse: Suzanne Law
Duane R. Price, dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, graduated from this life on Sunday, March 1, 2015 with his family by his side after a brief battle with pneumonia.
Duane was born to Vernon W. and Relva Ritchie Price on April 7, 1939. Growing up on the family dairy farm in Utah's Heber Valley, Duane was taught principles of hard work and leadership from a young age. He graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber City in 1957.
In his youth, Duane began developing his singular tenor voice, which greatly influenced his success as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Argentine Mission from September 1959 to April 1962, and was a gift he shared and enjoyed throughout his life. After his mission he attended Utah State University, receiving a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics. There he met his sweet eternal companion, Suzanne Law of Garland, Utah. They were sealed in the Logan, Utah temple on August 28, 1963, and together raised four children: Julie (Brad) Andersen, Loraine Swendsen, Robert (Eva) Price and David (Melanie) Price. In 1965, Duane began his career doing rural appraising, and was soon made Assistant Manager of the Federal Land Bank Association of Salt Lake City. He went on to fill many distinguished positions, culminating in being named Senior Vice President of Credit and FLBA Supervision at the Federal Land Bank in Sacramento, California in 1980. Returning to his native Utah in 1987, Duane eventually came full circle running his own expert rural real estate, agriculture and industrial appraising business, Intermountain Appraisal Services, Inc., until he retired in 2008.
Duane fulfilled many positions of leadership in the LDS church throughout his life as well. He served with dedication and great love in ward, stake and regional callings. Especially dear to him were the years he served as Bishop of the Fair Oaks IV Ward in Fair Oaks, California, and as a Spanish-speaking Counselor and Branch President in the Provo, Utah MTC. He has left a tremendous legacy of Christ-like love, service and accomplishment for his children, his 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Duane was preceded in death by his father and mother, and sisters Elaine (George) Arns, and LuAnna (Mitch) Keele. He is survived by his brother, Neil V. Price, his wife, children, cherished grand/great-grandchildren and many loved nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 am Canyon View LDS Chapel, 10494 N 4720 W, Highland, Utah. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the services, both times at the LDS Church. Interment will be in the Charleston Cemetery at approx. 2:15 pm.
