After an illness of five weeks of virulent typhoid fever, contracted while at work at Bakersfield, Philip Crother passed quietly away Thursday night, May 9, at 12 o'clock, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Crother, Summerland
Deceased was born in Nebraska, November 7, 1881, and died May 9, 1909 [1901], aged 19 years, six months and three days, and was the eldest [second] of three sons. The funeral occurred from the house on Friday, May 10. Internment at Santa Barbara Cemetery. Philip was a bright, intelligent boy, of quiet and gentlemanly demeanor, and was esteemed by all who knew him.
His death is a severe blow to his parents, who have the sympathy of the entire community.
Funeral services were held at the house, Prof. Loveland officiating. An immense concourse of friends of the family were in attendance.
