Buried in the family vault under St. Philip's Chancel. He first married on January 19, 1749 Mary Baker, daughter of Richard Bohnn Baker. She died on December 25, 1751 and was buried at her fathers plantation, Archdale near Summerville. He secondly married Margaret Crocker on June 21, 1757. He participated in the battle of Charleston and was captured upon it's surrender and was exiled to St. Augustine then jailed in Philadelphia.
