Mr. Tony M. Thomas, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 27, 2015, in Asheville, NC. Tony was born in Marion on November 8, 1946 to the late Hyatt Thomas and Dicia Chrisawn “Cotton” Thomas. He graduated from Marion High School in 1965 and immediately went into the U. S. Air Force, eventually retiring in 1988, after having serving during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he began working at IAC in Old Fort as a CNC Operator, and retired from there in 2012. His retirement years allowed him the time to pursue his true love, bowling. To say that Tony was passionate about bowling would be an understatement. He bowled several days a week and over the years was in many different bowling leagues. Tony also enjoyed cooking and woodworking, and many of his friends at the bowling alley, and even at the bank, knew him as “The Fudge Man” for the delicious fudge he cooked up. His military background carried with him his entire life and he remained involved in various veterans groups including the AMVETS Post 2298 in Panama City, FL where he was a Life Member and the Tom B. Glaze VFW Post 8205 in Parker, FL.

Left to hold dear the beloved memory of her husband of 39 years is his wife, Carol Genovese Thomas of the home; seven children, Bernice Hensley and husband Brian of Marion, Barbara Howard and husband Dan of Alamogordo, NM, Keith Thomas and wife Donna of Marion, Angela Patton and husband Dale of Panama City, FL, Shawn Thomas and wife Katrina of Marion Tim Thomas and wife Kali of Marion and Ray Thomas of Marion; two brothers, Gary Thomas and wife Cora of Marion and Pat Thomas and wife Margaret of Old Fort; nineteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and three nephews and one niece.
