HIGH POINT - Mrs. Irma Kirks Collins, 89 died Thursday at her home. Born July 28, 1920, in Pitt-sylvania County, Virginia, she is a daughter of the late Rory Kirks and Mattie Scearce Kirks. On December 23, 1939, she married Posey Aulton Collins. Mrs. Collins retired from the High Point City School System and was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church. Before joining Parkwood she was a member of Brentwood Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and was a frequent soloist in the church choir. In addition to her parents Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her husband of 69 years, Posey Aulton Collins of the home and two children, Mike Collins and wife Sheila of High Point and Nancy Lipscomb and husband George of Raleigh and two grandchildren Kevin Collins and Chris Collins. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in the Danville and Martinsville areas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Collins will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. Entombment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
