Ruth Leiby, 99, of Pottsville, formerly of Aston, passed away Saturday at Providence Place, Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville, Nov. 17, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Kate Nelson Hoffman.
Ruth was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, where she was very active and loved participating in the social events and the strawberry festival skits. She was a charter member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Aston.
Ruth was the last member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, Harry Kutzer Leiby, on June 8, 2009; five sisters, Dora Hoffman, Beulah Moser, Helen Yaag, Elsie Engleman and Esther Warvel; four brothers, Clarence, Harvey, Clair and Robert Hoffman.
Ruth is survived by a son, Kurt Leiby and his wife, Linda, Aston; a daughter, Cathy Zona and her husband, Stosh, Avondale; two grandsons, Carl and Jonathan; a stepgrandson, Greg; three great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A religious service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W. Arch St., Pottsville, with the Rev. Harold Hand officiating. Interment was held in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
