Myra "Claudette" Martin

1940 - 2015

Myra (Claudette) Martin, affectionately known as "Too-Too" by her devoted and loving husband of 39 years, Richard Martin, was born on November 7, 1940 to the late Hershel and Donnie Gipson of Picayune, MS. She passed away at the age of 74 on Friday, February 27, 2015. Claudette was widowed in 1972 by Wallace Douzart and is survived and cherished by her three children, Lynde and husband Richard Welsh, Lisa Douzart, and Steven and wife Sandra Douzart. She was also blessed with six grandchildren, Megan and Karen Welsh, Jacob, Samuel, Andrew, and Michael Douzart; three sisters, Jeanette Gould, Sherra Krieger, and Debra Levy.

Her passions were her husband and family as well as being a bowling champion. She found her artistic eye by creating porcelain dolls, and she excelled to national recognition and graced the cover of nationally syndicate d Doll Crafter Magazine.

The family request visiting hours be observed at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Richard Welsh, and Daniel Atkinson.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Family and friends may sign the online guest book or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.

Though she walks with God she will live in our hearts forever. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was "the love of the life" to her beloved husband, Richard. Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
